Challenge
Since 2002, Deep Water Point has been a leading strategy and management consulting firm, providing market intelligence, BD consulting, capture and proposal support, and transaction advisory services to the government contracting community. In the fall of 2022, Deep Water Point and its investment partner, Renovus Capital Partners, planned to acquire Wolf Den Associates, a renowned federal strategy consulting firm specializing in full lifecycle growth. The acquisition was bringing together the two most prominent consulting brands in the federal market. Together, they sought to make a “splash” in the industry with their announcement, using an organized and effective media strategy.
Solution
Partnering with Focused Image, Boscobel initiated a comprehensive public relations and communications campaign for the two merging firms. The team interviewed leadership and subject matter experts to draft executive correspondence to employees, customers, and other stakeholders—and a striking press release that articulated the impact of the merger on the industry. Boscobel also created a detailed communications plan to coordinate the timing and key messaging points for each stakeholder group. Anticipating reporter interest, Boscobel provided media training for the executive leadership teams, to prepare them for interviews. Once the press release was distributed over the wire, Boscobel also provided the news to its proprietary list of GovCon media contacts and business reporters.
Results
The press release and reporter outreach garnered widespread interest and coverage in industry publications, such as ExecutiveGov, Intelligence Community News, ExecutiveBiz, the Maryland Daily Record, and more. Interviews were also secured in Bloomberg Government, Washington Technology, Washington Exec, and GovCon Wire.
With the success of the campaign, Deep Water Point and Wolf Den joined forces to become Deep Water Point & Associates, the biggest player in federal management consulting and advisory.
