Problem: The U.S. Customs Service performs a vital role as protector of our borders, but the agency needed to dispel negative images created by its enforcement work. The agency also wanted to reposition itself as a contemporary organization with modern business practices, and to streamline its communications. In short, a major overhaul.

Solution: After extensive research with people in and out of Customs, Boscobel established a color palette and design for all Customs collateral materials, to graphically brand the agency and reinforce its new image. We also rewrote many of the agency’s verbose communications for clarity and brevity. One dense, 80-page report was reduced to just 16 pages of easy-to-read text with illustrations. In addition, Boscobel was tasked to create a template for the agency’s newsletter.
