Problem: The name “National Foundation for Consumer Credit” was confusing: It sounded like NFCC provided credit. In addition, NFCC's products and services did not have product names that differentiated them from the competition.

Solution: Based on illuminating research, Boscobel held a Naming Workshop with NFCC and Boscobel personnel. In an intensive, economical half-day session, the workshop yielded four new names (for a fraction of the cost of a single name from some other shops):

  • National Foundation for Credit Counseling™ was chosen for the organization itself. A more appropriate name, given what NFCC does.
  • Neighborhood Financial Care Centers™ for member offices. A big plus: It uses the well-known NFCC initials.
  • Money Action Plan™ (MAP) for the range of services NFCC offers to anyone who comes in for personal counseling.
  • Debt Solver Program™ for NFCC members’ debt management service.
