Problem: Due to the poor reputation of previous administrations, the government of Montgomery County, MD, was seen as indifferent to business, and the county was losing companies to other jurisdictions. A new group of county officials knew they needed help, but didn’t know where to begin. How do you “sell” an entire county?

Solution: Boscobel first conducted extensive research with community leaders to help determine the right message. Then we created a new logo and developed marketing brochures that complemented those of the State of Maryland, for additional leverage at trade shows. Other efforts included a modular video that could be easily updated, plus public relations to place favorable stories and counteract negative ones.

Results: a more favorable opinion of the county by business executives (according to an independent poll), and more companies coming into the county than leaving it.
