Problem: Excalibur Technologies Corporation had a presence
in federal and commercial markets. The company had just acquired
Conquest Software, giving it the ability to provide sophisticated
text search and retrieval. Excalibur already had an agency
in place to handle the commercial side, but how could Excalibur
promote their new capability in the federal government?
Solution: Discovering virtually no awareness of Excalibur
in the market, Boscobel established Excalibur as a resource
for trade publications. Direct mail was a powerful tool, as
well, with a six percent response rate. In all, Excalibur received
more recognition in the first year with Boscobel than in the
previous five years combined.
