Problem: Quantum Computer Services was
virtually unknown. That was both a blessing and a curse: a
blessing in that changing the name posed no problems, a curse
in that Quantum had no naming equity to build upon.
Or did it?
Solution: A comprehensive Naming Workshop by Boscobel
revealed that Quantum already owned a name, America Online,
that would be ideal for both the online service and the company
as a whole. Bonus benefit: The abbreviation AOL also worked
as a stock ticker symbol.
