Valentine's Day Tips

Show your sweetheart how much you care this Valentine’s Day. Celebrate tomorrow by going out on a date, or stay at home with a bottle of wine and some chocolates. No matter what you do, use these tips to assure that your Valentine’s Day goes off without a hitch.

Romantic Date Ideas

Go ice-skating. Hold hands and keep each other warm while also working off those Valentine’s Day chocolates.

Make pottery. Remember the movie Ghost? Visit a paint-your-own pottery store and make your honey a plate or mug created especially for them.

Cook dinner together. Nothing says romance like a candlelight dinner, especially when you spend time cooking it together.

Wine and Chocolate Pairings

White chocolate. A good sherry will bring out the creaminess of the chocolate. Orange Muscat will accentuate the fruity undertones. Try Pedro Romero or Quady Winery’s 2002 Orange Muscat.

Dark chocolate. The roasted, robust flavors of a cabernet or zinfandel accentuate the richness of the chocolate. Try Whitehall Lane’s Cabernet or Hook and Ladder Zinfandel.

Milk chocolate. A light pinot noir pairs well with a chocolate bar, while Riesling works with a chocolate mousse or cheesecake. Try Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Eroica Riesling 2004.

Last Minute Gift Ideas

Send roses to work. Both women and men can enjoy the beauty and fragrance of fresh roses.

Make a coupon book. Show your sweetheart that you really care by creating homemade coupons. Be creative! For example, “Good for a half-hour foot massage”. P.S. There are love coupon books at Borders!

Create a romantic CD. Include “your” song, and others that remind you of each other. Add some candles and wine, and your valentine will be swept off their feet, only after the foot massage, of course.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Boscobel!
